2016 ACT CHAMPIONSHIPS

Conditions were relatively benign for Canberra except for the 2nd 800 metres on the afternoon of the second stage when strong winds fishtailed down the range, flicking from side to side and catching many shooters on the wrong side of zero and resulting in quite low scores, including those of  very experienced competitors!    During the Queens, temperatures reached 30 degrees on each day creating challenging conditions for all competitors.  Nothing too unusual about that for the Canberra Range!

QUEENSLAND RIFLE ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIPS 2016

Electronic targets finally came of age in  Australia when the QRA held their State Target Rifle Championships on the
Hexta Electronic Target System.
This was the first time that a major Fullbore Target Rifle competition of this magnitude has been held on Hexta ETs in Australia.

The Hexta Electronic Target system well and truly proved its reliability, accuracy and capabilities.
The system not only displays the shot position to the shooter and the scorer but is also capable of being watched
in real time on any smart phone, tablet or computer as well as providing instantaneous results to anyone with internet access.

Congratulations to the developers at Hexta and thanks to the volunteers who gave up their opportunity to compete
to assist anyone unfamiliar with the electronic system to ensure a smoothly run competition.

RO McNAUGHT WINS MDRA UNDER-25
CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS

Natives Rifle Club member, Rowan McNaught, won the MDRA Under-25 Champion of Champions competition held on Saturday, February 27th fired over 300, 900 and 1000 yards on Hexta electronic targets.

The conditions were very challenging with the effects of the aftermath of a tropical cyclone causing fresh to strong, quick changing winds switching from 9.00 to 12.00 o'clock.

The weather conditions challenged even the most experienced competitors resulting in quite low scores across all of the disciplines competing in the Champion of Champions matches.

CONGRATULATIONS, RO
